Tsitsikamma Canopy Tour

Experience one of the best eco-tourism adventures on a canopy tour in the Tsitsikamma forest near Storms River on the Garden Route.

The origins of canopy tours for tourism go back to Costa Rica where biologists needed to get to the upper canopy of forests to study their subjects. They then came up with a system of platforms and cables that enabled them to do just that. From there it grew into one of the most exhilarating eco-tourism activities.

Opened in 2001, the Tsitsikamma Canopy Tour on the Garden Route was the first in South Africa. There are now seven official Canopy Tours© across the country.

Stormsriver Adventures offers travellers this incredible fun and adventurous canopy tour amid the indigenous setting of the Tsitsikamma forest where the towering yellowwood trees are hundreds of years old. The numerous different fern and other interesting flora species are spectacular. There is further abundant birdlife with species like the Knysna Loerie and the Narina Trogon while one can also spot the Knysna dwarf chameleon.
