East Africa’s Wildlife

Explore Africa with the "East Africa’s Wildlife" Tour

15 Days

This trip combines some of East Africa’s most exciting wildlife encounters. It begins with gorilla trekking in Uganda’s lush rainforests before taking you to the Maasai Mara and Serengeti savannahs to witness the Great Wildebeest Migration. Finally, put your feet up at a coffee lodge with views of Mount Meru after visiting the Ngorongoro Crater, which is home to all of Africa’s Big 5 mammals (lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and buffalo), as well as a plethora of other creatures.

Flying between locations cuts down on travel time and is less strenuous than driving. There are a few overnight stops in cities to ensure that the pace is comfortable and relaxing. These stops are fantastic opportunities to shake the dust from your feet and catch up on home news. Your safari lodging will be in the shape of tiny, cosy tented camps in prime game-viewing regions.

These camps will have opulent tents with en-suite bathrooms and outdoor sitting spaces where you can relax and take in the scenery. You enjoy going on morning and afternoon game drives, and you also get to meet people from the neighborhood. It is possible to organize extra activities like hot air balloon trips.

Nature lovers and animal photographers will enjoy this excursion because it is abundant in experience and species. Due to the excellent caliber of the accommodations and level of care, it is also appropriate for sophisticated honeymooners, romantic travelers, and safari enthusiasts.

Trip Highlights

Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp - Uganda

Kihihi, Uganda

Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp

Fly to Kihihi, the town. The Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp is where you check in for three nights after being met and driven there. Before meeting the locals and going on an educational walk with local guides, you have time to freshen up in your suite, one of only eight at the camp with views into the beautiful jungle canopy.

The Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park is explored with professional guides over the course of the next two days. There are other primates to search for, as well as wonderful birds and butterflies, but a gorilla encounter is the main goal (you get two gorilla day permits).

Sanctuary Olonana Camp - Kenya

Maasai Mara, Kenya

Sanctuary Olonana

To the Maasai Mara, fly. Sanctuary Olonana, an opulent tented camp situated on the Mara River in the centre of the Masai Mara National Reserve, is where you’re going. Any time of year, it is a great place to see animals, but predators are especially well-represented.

The Mara River crossings, one of the Wildebeest Migration’s most spectacular episodes, take place here between July and October. Regardless of the season, you have two full days to take it all in on expertly guided morning and afternoon game drives before returning to a camp with eco-friendly architecture and opulent accommodation, right down to the mini-spa and private pool, each evening.

Sanctuary Kichakani Serengeti Camp - Tanzania

Serengeti National Park, Tanzania

Sanctuary Kichakani Serengeti Camp

After breakfast, a morning transfer will take you to the Kenyan border town of Migori, from where you can enter Tanzania to the village of Tarime.

Following your flight from Tarime to an airport in the Serengeti National Park, a driver will meet you and take you to Sanctuary Kichakani Serengeti Camp, where you will spend the next three nights.

The sleek and fashionable Kichakani is a Migration-specialist camp, setting up in the best spots for the most spectacular views of the thundering herds and their constantly present predators. It has only 10 tents and moves between three Serengeti locales. You will be going on two full-day game drives, so be sure to recharge your camera batteries in your suite.

Sanctuary Olonana Camp - Kenya

Ngorongoro Crater, Tanzania

Sanctuary Ngorongoro Crater Lodge

The Ngorongoro Crater, the largest complete volcanic caldera in the world, is reachable from the Serengeti by a quick flight to Manyara and a short vehicle journey.

Your lodging, Sanctuary Ngorongoro Crater Lodge, is situated along the access road to the crater in a wooded valley, making it easy to pass other cars. While the views from camp are stunning, the vistas from the following day’s full-day journey through the crater bottom are even more breathtaking.

Hippos, hyenas, flamingos, big herds of antelope and zebra, as well as other animals, can be found at this location, which is noted for its frequent and easy sightings of the Big 5.

Elewana Arusha Coffee Lodge - Tanzania (2)

Arusha, Tanzania

Arusha Coffee Lodge

You may travel from Manyara to Arusha, Tanzania’s international entry point, in less than an hour by plane. You are received at the airport and driven to Arusha Coffee Lodge, which is situated just five minutes away and has views of both Mount Meru, the country’s second-highest mountain, and the largest coffee plantation in the world.

The lodge boasts a calming ambiance where you may take use of spa services, log fires, great meals, and the best coffee you can imagine.
